Leak detecting appts e.g for water mains - using turbine flowmeter to generate pulses which indicate leak if they persist beyond preset time

The flow of water in a water main is detected by a turbine sensor (2,3) which generates electrical pulses using a rotating magnet (4). The pulses are fed to an electronic processor (6) which counts them and shows the water used on a display (7). The length of time that the pulses persist is compared with a stored predetermined time which is typical for the user and if this is exceeded a relay eventually shuts an electrically operated valve (20). In addition early visual and audible alarms are given (18,21) and reset buttons (22,24,26) are provided. ADVANTAGE - equipment combines normal water metering with leakage detection and assessment.
