摘要 PURPOSE:To flatten the spatial intensity distribution of light waves of various light intensities so as to be synthesized into simple distribution by operating the wave surface using the nonlinearity of light so as to uniform the nonuniform light intensity distribution while keeping the uniformity of the wave surface. CONSTITUTION:Output light from a semiconductor laser array 1 is injected into a nonlinear wave guide path 2 formed integrally with the semiconductor laser array 1 in such a way as to have a negative nonlinear coefficient. At this time, this output light is of mutually antiphase in the mutually adjacent beams as electric field distribution and is of multiple crests as light intensity distribution. The refractive index of a core part on which the greater part of light wave is concentrated in the nonlinear wave guide path 2 is changed according to input light intensity distribution, and the light intensity distribution is also redistributed. This process is repeated so as to shape the output light intensity distribution into a simple single crest or flat distribution. The shaped output light intensity distribution is reduced in its cross section by an easy tapered wave guide path block 3 so as to be shaped into the size of the light wave guide path where only a basic mode can pass and converted into the basic mode in a linear basic mode light wave path 4.
