PURPOSE:To prevent a toner remaining between first and second brushes from sticking to a photosensitive body, in a brush cleaning system for electrostatically charging residual toner by the first brush. CONSTITUTION:This photosensitive body cleaning method is one for removing the toner remaining on the photosensitive body, after transfer is performed, a conductive roll-like first fur brush 12 to which the voltage of a prescribed polarity is applied, is brought into contact with the surface of the photosensitive body 10, while being rotated in a forward direction with respect to the moving direction of the surface of the photosensitive body 10, to charge electrostatically the residual toner to the prescribed polarity. Then, a roll-like second fur brush 14 is brought into contact with the surface of the photosensitive body 10, rotated in the prescribed direction, in this state, and electrically attracts the residual toner electrostatically charged to the prescribed polarity by the first fur brush 12, to remove the residual toner from the photosensitive body. After an image forming process, and before the photosensitive body 10 is stopped, the first fur brush 12 is retreated from the surface of the photosensitive body 10, the residual toner T between the first and second fur brushes is removed by the second fur brush 14, and then, the rotation of the photosensitive body is stopped. |
