<p>PURPOSE:To eliminate an irregularity in line brightness and obtain a liquid crystal display panel which has uniform display characteristics by driving the display panel by lines or blocks with a signal level corresponding to device characteristics. CONSTITUTION:When the liquid crystal display panel is made to illuminate with half-tone rasters, the brightness irregularity generated in gate line units is measured and stored in memories 3 and 34 by an optional means. Then a counter circuit 33 based on a horizontal and a vertical synchronizing signal generate address signals corresponding to respective gate lines on a screen. Lastly, a gate level signal is generated for an optional gate line with the address signals according to values read out of the memories 3 and 34. Therefore, the brightness irregularity between lines is measured with a uniform input video signal in advance and then corrections by the gate lines are made irrelevantly to the level of the variable input video signal. Consequently, a brightness level similar to that of other adjacent lines can be secured even on the panel where the generation of the brightness irregularity is estimated.</p> |
