PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of cloudiness, due to insulation lowering caused by a Ni sputter film produced by discharge and the adhering of the sputter film to the front substrate, when Ni is used as cathode material for a gas discharge type display panel luminous due to gas discharge between a cathode and an anode. CONSTITUTION:A dielectric layer 2 is formed on the back substrate 1, and whereon a cathode 3 is formed. An anode 5 is formed on the front substrate 4, and a partition wall 7 is formed to prevent cross talk in discharge space 6. The back and front substrate 1 and 4 are overlapped, circumference is airtightly sealed with frit glass, and discharge space 6 is made a vacuum, enclosing several hundreds Torr of mixed gas of rare gas and O2 (provided that O2 is not exceeded 5% of the rare gas in a volume ratio). Consequently the film-forming speed of sputter is reduced to keep insulation between electrodes, and the permeability of the sputter is improved to reduce the cloudiness of the front substrate 4. |
