The mechanism positions two sliding sections of a ski-boot in particular in relation to each other, having a first component (12) in which an adjusting member (20) rotates on an axis (16) at right angles to the direction of sliding movement (A). The member has an eccentric (28) engaging in a recess (30) in a second component (14). The member is locked in position by a component (22) sliding in the axial direction (16) between the free and working positions. In the latter position, the locking component engages both with the member and the first component. The two components can slide in a set direction (A) in relation to each other, and the recess can consist of an elongated hole, whose width matches the diameter (C) of the eccentric. ADVANTAGE - Locks positively in position and is largely unaffected by environmental conditions.
