PURPOSE:To increase the life and capacity and to decrease self-discharge by supporting an active material comprising lithium or alkali metals mainly consisting of lithium in carbon black having specific parameters. CONSTITUTION:Carbon black whose spacing (d002) of (002) face obtained by X-ray diffraction is 3.35-3.8Angstrom , crystal lattice size (Lc) in a c-axis direction is 10-250Angstrom , crystal lattice size (La) in an a-axis direction is 15-250Angstrom , and specific surface area obtained by BET method is 50 m<2>/g or more is used as the supporter of a negative active material. A secondary battery obtained by this constitution is not influenced by overcharge and has long charge-discharge cycle life. Since the negative active material is steadily supported in charging, high rate discharge is made possible, and self-discharge is retarded. |
