The instrument comprises a feeler pin (5) inserted in the socket, together with a handle (1) and an indicator system (19, 20). At the forward end of the handle is a small guide tube (4), from which the pin can be extended. The pin is coupled to a slide (9) inside the handle, and which is movable from the outside. At the rear end of the handle are a datum mark (20) and a scale (19) movable in relation to each other, one being joined to the handle and the other to the slide. The fitting (11) actuating the slide can comprise an annular body enclosing the handle, and coupled by a pin passing through an elongated hole in the handle to the slide. USE/ADVANTAGE - Simple, easily operated instrument for measuring gum socket depth.
