Textile reinforcement capable of being employed for the production of composite materials, consisting of at least two layers of textile reinforcements arranged on either side of a central layer imparting thickness to the said material. It is characterised in that, in order to make it possible to produce shaped moulded articles by press-moulding with injection or under vacuum, the central layer imparting the thickness consists of a sheet based on synthetic fibres, of high unit count, these having received before they are converted into sheet form a treatment imparting to them a permanent undulation resulting in the formation of a lightweight, thick and aerated sheet, the different layers being joined together by stitching/knitting.
