1,182,755. Toothed gearing. UNION SPECIAL MACHINE CO. 10 May, 1968 [12 May, 1967], No. 22184/68. Heading F2Q. [Also in Division D1] An intermittent drive for a cloth feed wheel 48 of a sewing machine comprises a driving shaft 20 geared to the input shaft 41 of a " strain type " reduction gear 47 having a flexible plastics output gear 74 rolled round an annulus 83 by an input driven wave generator 77, 78, and an eccentric 30 on the driving shaft 20 oscillates the annulus 83 whereby the oscillation is superimposed on the rotation of the gear 74 to provide a cyclic intermittent drive to an output shaft 44 carrying the wheel 48. The amplitude of oscillation of the annulus 83 is one-half of the rotation of the gear 74 caused by one complete rotation of the driving shaft 20. The eccentric 30 may be adjustable of the type described in Specification 676,955 and is connected to the annulus 83 by arms 61, 93 respectively fast with an eccentric strap and the annulus. In Fig. 8 (not shown) a fixed eccentric is connected to the annulus by adjustable arms. The shaft 20 is driven from an electric motor 25 and is geared to the shaft 41 by toothed or belt gearing. |
