Switch mechanism for motor vehicle electric sunroof - uses two interconnected switch elements allowing both roof panels to be moved into ventilation position

The switch mechanism is operated manually and has two height adjustable switch operating elements (2',3') which lie one behind the other on the normal switch position in which the sunroof is closed. The operating elements are coupled together so that, when the front element (21) is raised into a ventilation position for the sunroof, the rear switch elements (3') is pressed down. The switch elements are locked together via cooperating locking noses and notches. The electric motor is then activated to raise the rear edge of the front roof panel and lower the front edge of the rear roof panel. Pref. the front switch element is pivoted about an axis rearer its front end and the rear switch element is pivoted about as axis nearer its rear end. ADVANTAGE - Allows relative position of switch elements to be used to identify position of sunroof.
