The colour selection unit for a cathode ray tube has two frame elements (12) that are coupled together by profiled arm elements. The linear mask (14) is in the form of a grating with a series of parallel elements (14A) that cover the full area of the rectangular unit. The arm elements are produced in a metal forming operation, e.g. pressing, carried out on thin section alloy steel. The cross section of the arms is U-shaped and provides a certain degree of elasticity. Both arms are of identical form. USE/ADVANTAGE - Lightweight, lower costs.
