The suspension (1,2,6,7) has an almost vertical short pendulum lever, which replaces conventional drop-outs. A suspended deflection movement of the front wheel with mainly horizontal movement component in direction of travel, is generated by the lever above a certain reaction pressure. The pressure is adjustable, and rises with increased friction forces, dependant upon road surface, tyre pressure, and speed. The deflection movement of the front wheel permits normal use of conventional brake systems, which retain full function in any position of the suspension. USE/ADVANTAGE - Cheap relatively simple suspension for front wheel of bicycle permits use of conventional rim or cantilever brakes.
