<p>Measurements of mobile signal strength (12a-12c) received at the base station (100) are used to determine the portion of power that should be transmitted by the base station (100) to a particular mobile (200). Each of a plurality of mobiles (200) measure the relative strength of the base station (100) signal (1-3) specifically intended for that mobile (200). The relative strength is compared to either the total base station signal power or to a cumulative ranking of the power of signals intended for other mobiles. That comparison is used to determine whether the mobile (200) should increase or decrease its power.</p> |
