PURPOSE:To realize either continuous or intermittent vertical sealing treatment. CONSTITUTION:A continuous vertical sealing unit 10 is formed by mounting a sealing heater 18 detachably on a unit base 11 together with a sealing belt 17. The unit 10 is put in a compressing contact with the surface of a packing material (s) and operated by a unit driving cylinder 2 which moves according to a preset motion program, so that the vertical doubling edges of the packing material (s) can be sealed in a continuous sealing mode. On the other hand, in an intermittent sealing mode, a motion program of the unit driving cylinder 2 is switched to an intermittent sealing mode and also the sealing heater 18 on the unit base 11 is changed over to a vertical sealing jaw of intermittent sealing type. Further, the sealing belt 17 is taken off. Thus, the vertical doubling edges of the packing material (s) are sealed intermittently. |
