PURPOSE:To provide the surface of a separator with durable hydrophillic-property by treating the surface of a porous film or a nonwoven sheet with a specified copolymer. CONSTITUTION:alpha-Olefin having a carbon number of 20-80 and maleic anhydride are polymerized and a copolymer having a mean polymerization degree of 1- 100 is prepared. The copolymer is dissolved in solvent to prepare copolymer solution. An alkaline battery separator comprising polyolefin porous film or nonwoven sheet is immersed in the copolymer solution to make the surface of the separator hydrophillic. Moreover, the separator is treated with hot alkaline solution if necessary. This separator shows durable hydrophillic-property and is preferable for alkaline battery. |
