PURPOSE:To eliminate a loss and a disturbance of displayed pictures and to save power consumption of a picture display device. CONSTITUTION:By a picture generating circuit 1, the picture generated in a picture memory 2 is temporarily accumulated in a display memory 4 and is displayed by a display device 5. To reduce the power consumption, a power consumption reduction discriminating circuit 6 shuts off the power supply of the circuit 1 and the memory 2, when the contents of display data are not changed. During that period, the device 5 displays the display data accumulated in the inside of the memory 4 so as to prevent a loss of display or a disturbance in the display. The circuit 6 connects the power supply of the circuit 1 and the memory 2 when a necessity arises to change the contents of the display data. |
