摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain a high contrast by providing light shielding layers having an electrical insulating characteristic in the spacings between divided pixel electrodes. CONSTITUTION:The light shielding layers 6 are provided in the spacings between the divided electrodes constituting the picture elements and the light shielding layers of the corresponding parts on a counter substrate are omitted, by which >=40% opening rate is assured. The light shielding layer 6 on the thin-film element MIM substrate is the light shielding layer 6 provided in the spacings between the electrodes constituting the one picture element and, therefore, even if the signals between the divided pixel electrodes leak to each other with some electrical conductivity, there is no influence at all on the image. Since there is a width of selection in the material of the light shielding layer 6 and the stage for forming the light shielding layers 6, the light shielding layers can be formed without increasing the cost. The light shielding layers may be provided between the divided pixel electrodes even if the pixel electrode are divided to >=2 electrodes.
