PURPOSE: To expedite battery power saving by a part of users in a selectively calling system by de-energizing a receiving part during a specific period responding to the receiving of a specific code word and then energizing again the receiving during the specific period in a specific batch. CONSTITUTION: A pager P has a receiving part 16 and a control part 18. A nonvolatile storage 42 is combined with a detector 40 and stores the bit pattern of a preamble, which is transmitted responding to a request by the detector 40 or the like. This output signal is supplied to a timing control circuit 32 for detecting whether or not power should be supplied to the receiving part 16, according to the data stored in a memory means 34. For example, the circuit 32 transmits a signal for interrupting power supply to the receiving part 16 during a period T1 to a power control circuit 30, and then to energize the receiving part 16 during the period of a frame assigned in a super batch.
