摘要 PURPOSE: To capture dangerous fission products immediately upon production during irradiation by adding at least two metal oxides and at least one oxide of nonradioactive isotope of fission product to be captured. CONSTITUTION: The capturing agent contains a combination of at least two metal oxides and at least one nonradioactive isotope oxide of fission product to be captured. The combination is selected to include at least two metal oxides of Al2 O3 , CeO2 , Nb2 O5 , SiO2 , TiO2 , UO2 , ZrO2 , etc., and at least one oxide of nonradioactive isotope of fission product, e.g. C2 O and/or SrO. Fission products are captured through exchange of isotope between the fission products and the nonradioactive isotope. Consequently, equilibrium is attained and the majority of free fission products produced during irradiation is fixed.
