PURPOSE:To efficiently supply image data by reading out desired image data from in a recording medium by a supply means to which selecting information for selecting the image data is supplied, and supplying it to a terminal equipment. CONSTITUTION:A user accesses an image data supply device 10 by the own device 20. In this case, a user terminal 20 selects a retrieval by an image table or a retrieval by a retrieval keyword. For instance, in the case of the selection by the retrieval keyword, a keyword of a photographing object name, a photographing place, etc., is inputted, and when these retrieval information is inputted to the image data supply device 10 through a high speed network 200, a data base managing part 140 retrieves a data base of a hard disk 130 and reads out the reduced image data concerned and the disk number, and transmits them to the user terminal 20. The user confirms it and sends an acknowledge signal. In the image data supply device 10, an optical disk is selected by the disk number concerned and the file number, and desired image data is read out.
