PURPOSE:To facilitate confirmation of a flowing character by providing a means for making the movement of the flowing character still. CONSTITUTION:In an ordinary condition, a flowing character is displayed on a screen of the information display device. When the key 52 of a controller 5 for remote control is depressed once, an ultrasonic signal is outputted from a transmitter 51 and transmitted to the receiving part 47 of a display part 4. The receiving part 47 generates an interruption signal for a CPU 40. When the interruption signal is received, the CPU 40, reading the bit pattern shifted by one bit at each fixed time till now, stops the execution of operation program for displaying the flowing character and starts executing the program for displaying a still character for the purpose of repeatedly reading the same bit pattern. By depressing the key 52 of the controller 5 for remote control again, execution of the program for displaying the flowing character is restarted.
