The shoulder muscle caul prosthesis comprises a mesh (5) which serves on the one hand to repair and on the other to give permanent reinforcement to the damaged muscle. The mesh is made from inter-woven fibres of a compatible material, partially covered with a layer (7) of a soft moulded material. The friction surface can be made, for instance, from a polymer-based synthetic material which has at least one surface polished to be perfectly smooth. The base layer (5) of the mesh, which can be rectangular or in another shape, can be made from polymer, carbon or metal fibres. ADVANTAGE - Reduces substantially the time needed for immobilisation of the shoulder joint, with the motor elements of the shoulder continuing to function normally.
