摘要 PURPOSE:To provide the recording medium which enables high-speed rewriting and recording and is not deteriorated in spite of repetition of high-quality recording and reproducing many times. CONSTITUTION:A first transparent interference layer 2 which is a mixture composed of ZnS and SiO2 and has 100 to 150nm thickness, a phase transition layer 3 which is composed of Ge1Sb2Te4 and has 20 to 50nm thickness, a second transparent interference layer 4 which is a mixture composed of the ZnS and the SiO2 and has 150 to 300nm thickness, a reflection layer 5 which consists of NiCr and has 20 to 100nm thickness, a deformation suppressing layer 6 which is composed of AlTi and has 10 to 300nm thickness and a protective layer 7 are provided in this order on a substrate 1. Binary information is recorded in such recording medium by irradiating the medium with a laser beam having the high power and intermediate power adjusted to correspond to the binary information through the substrate 1 and is reproduced by irradiating the medium with the moving laser beam of the low power.
