PURPOSE:To provide a security system utilizing a CATV system surely transmitting security information at every house and to provide a CATV converter for which a fire sensor or the like is directly connected. CONSTITUTION:This system is provided with an abnormality detecting means 8 such as a fire sensor and a gas leakage sensor, an abnormality signal input section receiving an abnormality detection signal, a transmission output section outputting a DC signal to a CATV line 3, a power supply output section supplying power to a television receiver, and a CATV converter 6 connected to the abnormality signal input section and provided with a central processing unit controlling the DC signal output of the transmission output section and the power supply output section at the time of the input of the detection signal, and also with a television controller 7 having a relay means activated by the DC signal of the transmission output section and a power output section supplying power to the television receiver 9 through the operation of a relay means.
