The brush (23) comprises two segments rotated about their common axis beyond the front of a supporting frame (12) by an electric motor (13) mounted centrally between vertical supports (15) and geared (16) to the centre of the brush. The machine rests on a foot (14) which extends across the width of the frame under the motor and serves as a fulcrum for tilting the machine with the inclined handle (11) used as a lever to lift the brush roller clear of the surfaces (25a, 26b) being swept.
