1,171,537. Hydrazine fuel cells. VARTA A.G. 2 Oct., 1967 [8 Oct., 1966], No. 44784/67. Heading H1B. A hydrazine fuel cell with a sintered multilayer, porous gas-diffusion anode having covering layer 2 of fine porosity and a working layer 1 of coarser porosity containing a catalyst for the decomposition of hydrazine and the electrochemical conversion of the hydrogen produced has a valve in the supply line carrying the hydrazine or salt thereof and an automatic pressure release valve 12 in the nitrogen exhaust line from the anode. As shown in Fig. 2 the valve 25 in the hydrazine electrolyte supply line is controlled by the voltage of the cell via amplifier 23. In another embodiment (Fig. 1, not shown) valve 25 is replaced by a manually controlled valve (11). In a third embodiment (Fig. 3, not shown) the oxidant is a solution of hydrogen peroxide the supply of which is controlled by an automatic valve (35) controlled by the cell voltage via an amplifier (33). |
