The device for throttling a gas, steam or fluid medium is designed to produce low noise. It is used esp. in connection with a pre-switched throttle valve, and comprises a housing with throttle elements having flow channels for the medium. The housing (2) has a seat with at least two throttle rings (4), and a conical or cylindrical body (10) with throttle profile sections (12) extending radially. Openings (14,15) are provided between the throttle profiles, forming flow channels. USE/ADVANTAGE - Low noise throttle unit provides increased pressure ratios up to 15:1, easy assembly, good resistance to foreign particles.
