<p>Acid tar is thermally cracked at a temperature of e.g. 250-350 degrees C in a vortex oven over a bed of petroleum coke. The acid tar e.g. containing 55% H2SO4 and 23% C is mixed with fluidizing gases, derived from e.g. the combustion of oil in air at a temperature of e.g. 1200 degrees C. Coke is formed and removed from the oven. The exit gas are freed of solids and used in a sulphuric acid manufacturing plant.</p> |
