<p>This improved process for producing particulate metal powder comprises the following steps, (1) producing iron powder of particle 0.1 to 3.0 micron and of specific surface area 2.0 to 4.0 m2/g by gas phase reduction of iron powder (i) (2) bringing the obtained iron powder into contact with an aq soln contg at least one metal ion selected from among Ni, Sn, Pb, Co, Cu and Ag (3) producing fine powder contg at least one of the above-specified metals of particle size 0.1 to 3.0 micron. The starting iron powder (i) is selected from among iron oxide, iron sulphate and iron chloride. Instead of step (2), water can be added to the obtained iron powder, which is then stirred and heated to make a slurry; the aq soln contg the above-mentioned metal is then added into the slurry. For step (3) the mixture is heated and stirred.</p> |
