A process for refining an elastomeric polyolefin copolymer polymerized from ethylene, a liquidized alpha -olefin in excess, and, if necessary, diene with a catalysis including a vanadic compound characterized by: (a) adding a good solvent and an alcohol to the polymerization system; and (b) adding water and/or an aqueous alkaline solution to remove the catalyst residue whereby the elastomeric polyolefin copolymer has a low vanadium content up to 5 ppm.
