An exhaust gas cleaning catalyst having an oxidising and/or reducing action, with a reduced tendency to H2S emission, contains as the support active Al2O3 which is doped with CeO2 and, if appropriate, ZrO2 as well as Pt, Pd and/or Rh and additionally also contains 0.1 to 40 % by weight of ZnO, relative to Al2O3.
