PURPOSE:To improve the character recognizing accuracy of a character recognizing device used for the machine translation apparatus. CONSTITUTION:When the instruction of translation is applied from an input means 1, a translation execution control part 2 instructs the reading of source sentences and the execution of character recognition to a character recognition processing part 3. The character recognition processing part 3 reads the source sentences from an image scanner 4 as image data, further, performs a character recognition processing while referring to a dictionary 9 for translation, and outputs the source sentences composed of character codes to a source sentence storage part 7. Continuously, the translation execution control part 2 instructs the execution of a translation processing to a translation processing part 8. The translation processing part 8 executes the translation processing of the source sentences stored in the source sentence storage part 7, and the translated result is displayed at a display means 11. Thus, since the dictionary 9 for translation is referred to at the time of character recognition processing, character recognizing accuracy is improved and the post-editing of translated sentences is facilitated. |
