PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of uneven drying in rapid processing to execute drying an improved drying capacity by using a fixer having the degraded film hardening effect. CONSTITUTION:Rollers 42 and/or hot wind discharge port means 48 are so disposed that at least one of the relations expressed by equation (1) or (2) when the distance between the continuous rollers 42 of a drying section is designated as L(mm), the distance between the discharge ports 53 of the hot wind discharge means 48 of the continuous hot wind discharge means as P(mm) and the distance at which a photosensitive material S is transported at every one rotation on a driving shaft for transmitting the driving of the rollers 42 as M(mm). The equation (1) k1M+0.5<L<(k1+1)M+0.5. (k1=an integer from 0.1 to 8). The equation (2) K2M+0.5<P<(k2+1)M+0.5. (k2=an integer from 0.1 to 8).
