A fire proofing system for normally inflammable natural or synthetic fibres or resins consists of:- (A) a cpd. of formula Xn - R - R'Xn - R - Xn (where R is a 5 - 8C cyclo-alkyl; X is Cl or Br; R' is divalent, acylic, satd. 1 - 4C hydrocarbon radical and n is such that total halogen content is 30 - 90% wt.); (B) a polymer of formula or of formula: (where G is a gp. and J is divalent G; R3 is 1 - 4C alkyl; R2 is hydrocarbon radical free of olefinic or acetylenic unsatn; q = 0 - 4; x = 1 - 100; p = 0 - 5;) Ratio of (A) : (B) is 0.5 : 1 to 4 : 1.
