PURPOSE:To obtain a high-difinition image extending over the whole area of a picture regardless of the distance of an object. CONSTITUTION:By composing two images obtained by picking up the image of the common object by using double image pickup systems (left-side image pickup system 10L and right-side image pickup system 10R), one high-definition image is obtained. Then, when a maximum congestion angle is set to be 2theta0 and the maximum image forming magnification of the image pickup system 105 and the image pickup system 10R is set to be beta0, the photosensitive surface of a left-side image sensor 12L and the photosensitive surface of a right-side image sensor 12R are respectively provided by being inclined to the extent of phi=0.5Xtan<-1>{beta0Xtan(theta0)}. with respect to a surface which is orthogonally crossed to the optical axis L5 of the image pickup system 10L and a surface which is orthogonally crossed to the optical axis LR of the image pickup system 10R. |
