PURPOSE:To obtain a display device consisting of an alternating current discharging type plasma display panel which can secure an stable operation range of the initial stage even when concentration of an ionization gas used is reduced and can efficiently make use of the display device using a plasma display panel by extending the lifetime which is decreased by reduction of concentration of the ionization gas used. CONSTITUTION:A display device 10 is constituted with an alternating current discharging type plasma display panel, a row electrodes control means 2 of this panel, a column electrodes control means 3 of this panel, a timing control means 5 which controls timing of the row electrodes control means 2 and the column electrodes control means 3, and a central control means 4, wherein, further provided with a concentration detecting means 6 of the ionization gas in the plasma display panel.
