PURPOSE:To enable the maintenance free by saving of electric power and to improve safety by displaying traffic information by the large screen of a liquid crystal display. CONSTITUTION:This display device has a liquid crystal display section 1 which displays road information, such as congestion condition and weather, an antenna 2 which receives the information transmitted from a transmission section provided in the outside, an IC chip 3 which has a circuit for driving a liquid crystal display element in accordance with the signal from the antenna 2 and a solar battery 4 which supplies a power source to this IC chip 3. A supporting post and supporting beam for supporting the liquid crystal display section 1 enable drivers of the vehicles traveling on a road to exactly recognize the road information. The information transmitted from the transmission section of the outside is received by the antenna 2 and the contents thereof are displayed on the liquid crystal display element in such a case. The liquid crystal display element contg. a high-ferroelectric liquid crystal is used as the liquid crystal material of this liquid crystal display section 1. |
