[Also in Division C5] In a process for reducing the water content of a gas to less than 100 mg/m<SP>3</SP> the gas is washed with an aqueous inorganic salt solution inert to the gas under the process conditions at a low temperature and possibly at a low pressure. The inorganic salt solution may be a solution of sodium or calcium chloride or sodium or ammonium nitrate. The temperature employed may be between -40‹ and -50‹C. In an example acetylene was washed with a 30% solution of calcium chloride at -50‹C in four packed towers arranged in series.</p> |
