PURPOSE:To correctly perform a sound generation assigning process by accurately generating the timbre of an event driven type musical sound. CONSTITUTION:This electronic musical instrument is provided with a keyboard 4 which generates key operation information, a musical sound synthesizing circuit 11 which outputs at least a musical sound signal of the event driven type musical sound and a musical sound signal of a trigger driven type musical sound by plural sound generation channels, and a CPU 1 which detects whether or not all the sound generation channels of the musical sound synthesizing circuit 11 are in sound generation, preferentially truncates the musical sound signal of the trigger driven type musical sound being generated over one of the sound generation channels, and assigns the generation of a new musical sound to one of the sound generation channels of the musical sound synthesizing circuit 11 according to the truncation result and new key operation information outputted from the keyboard 4. |
