PURPOSE:To surely return a card remaining in a transportation path owing to a jam or the like, to previously prevent the deterioration of a device, to improve the working rate of the device and to prevent the deterioration in service to the user. CONSTITUTION:The discharge route 12 of the remaining card is provided at the lower part of the transportation route in a card transportation mechanism. When the card 2 is detected not to be returned to an insertion port 3 in spite of the driving of the transportation path in a card return direction, the transportation path is opened and the card 2 is dropped. Then, the card is returned to the return port 13 through the discharge route 12. In a conventional case, the device breaks down unless a person in charge removes the card when the card is remained in the transportation path. Even in such a case, the card can surely and automatically be returned, the working rate at the time of a holiday operation and an unmanned operation is improved and the deterioration of service for the user is prevented. |
