PURPOSE:To realize smooth reading by adjusting automatically sentence feeding speed according to the number of characters stored in a number of characters storage circuit and a unit display time stored in a unit display time storage circuit. CONSTITUTION:When the unit display time stored beforehand in a unit display time storage circuit 5 and the number of characters of one page portion stored in the number of characters storage circuit 6 are multiplied by each other by a display time calculation circuit 7, and a result is set in a timing circuit 8, simultaneously with it, timing is started. When the timing is finished, a timing finish signal is supplied to a control circuit 2, and it is decided whether a page being displayed on a display part 4 is a final page or not according to it. When it is not the final page, the sentence data of a next page portion is read out from a storage medium 1, and the sentence is displayed on the display part 4, and in respect of this page too, display time is calculated similarly and page feeding is performed successively. Thus, since automatic sentence feeding is performed while the sentence feeding speed is adjusted automatically according to the number of the characters of one page portion, the comfortable reading is performed. |
