PURPOSE:To provide the optical amplifier relay circuit with simple circuit configuration applied to a long distance optical fiber communication system in which no system fault takes place even when one of excitation light sources for a 1st direction (incoming) and a 2nd direction (outgoing) is failed. CONSTITUTION:The optical amplifier relay circuit beta directly amplifying signal lights L1, L2 in a 1st direction and a 2nd direction opposite to the 1st direction is featured to be provided with 1st and 2nd optical amplifier fibers 1, 1' amplifying the signal lights L1, L2 corresponding to the 1st and 2nd directions, 1st and 2nd excitation light sources 2, 2' connected in series or in parallel to excite the 1st and 2nd optical amplifier fibers 1, 1, a control circuit 3'' supplying a current to the 1st and 2nd excitation light sources 2, 2' to control its output light, a power supply circuit 4 supplying power to the control circuit 3', two output lights La, La' of the 1st and 2nd excitation light sources 2, 2' are synthesized once by a light synthesizing and branching device 10 and then branched again, and the 1st and 2nd optical amplifier fibers 1, 1' are excited by using the two branched output lights Lb, Lb'. |
