Compsn. for treatment of multiple sclerosis (MS) by intravenous or oral admin. in association with a diet in which the nutritional protein supply is zero in acute cases, of no more than 0.5 g/kg (body wt.) in chronic cases, comprises a protein, protein mixt., protein hydrolysate, peptide, peptide mixt. or aminoacid mixt., opt. together with substances not contg. aminoacids. The compsn. has a total glycine, glutamine and glutamic acid content of no more tha 15 wt.%, an arginine content of no more than 1 wt.% and a phenylalanine content of no more than 3.5 wt.% and/or contains these aminoacids in a chemically modified form that cannot be transaminated in vivo. The compsn. is administered in a daily dose of up to 2 g/kg. ADVANTAGE - The compsn. reduces the symptoms of MS and retards the progress of the disease
