A containment wall for a nuclear installation, for example, a cave or tent. It comprises a sealing layer (4) arranged to cover a supporting wall (2) and over this a covering protective wall (5). The protective wall (5) is locked together with the support wall (2) by means of bolts (6, 8) which pass through the sealing layer (4) from the protective wall (5) and are anchored in the support wall (2). The sealing layer (4) has a gas tight seal to the anchor bolts (6, 8). Further it is firmly attached to the support wall (2) and or the protective wall (5) by means of an adhesive. The protective wall (5) is made up of components (5a-5f) which are attached firmly to the support wall and also interlock with each other. USE/ADVANTAGE - The wall is intended for use in nuclear containment constructions. It is especially useful when walls of an already constructed building are to have protective and sealing layers fixed retrospectively to them. This can then be achieved quickly, reliably and relatively cheaply. The wall protects against radiation, chemical effects and high temperatures. As the protective wall is attached to the support wall, only one foundation is needed and movement between the two (as would be the case in 2 separate walls) is avoided.
