A mast or tower (10) constructed of framework is fitted with support points (40) at regular intervals that provides guidance for a safety line (50) that covers the height of the unit. Access to the mast by personnel is provided , with them wearing safety harnesses (63) attached to the safety line. The coupling is provided by looping the line sliding guide sections (61) and the support points on the mast structure. The support points on the structure are in the form of screwed studs having an open double ring loop for ease of line insertion. The line may be repositioned as climbing proceeds.
