The first roller (2) has a timing belt pulley (6), which is connected with the electric motor (5) across a timing belt (7). The second roller of the roller set (4) is connected with the respective adjacent roller (3) of the same set (4) by a belt (8). The belt (8) has a uniform section e.g. a round section essentially over its length. A contact sensor is arranged between two free running rollers, alternatively a light barrier, an electronic unit or a pneumatic unit can be used as the sensor. The driving forces are transferred to the rollers (2, 3), and the timing belt pulleys (6) are connected with a braking roller across a slip coupling. The brake roller of the respectively following section (4) is only then activated to brake the following section, if the sensors of two successive sections (4) signal transport goods.
