The rpm-measurement device proposed works with a stationary wire pulse sensor (5) which is controlled by the magnetic fields of a multiplicity of radially aligned rotating magnets (4). The speed of rotation of a component (3a) located on a shaft (3) is determined by virtue of the fact that each pulse in the wire pulse sensor (5) is triggered by two opposite poles (N, S) located a certain longitudinal distance apart. The measurement device proposed provides reliable measurement values independently of the rpm, particularly in the lower rpm range.
