A rotation driving device (31) causes a radiation source (10) and a two-dimensional sensor (20) to integrally rotate around an object (50) to be examined. An X-ray bulb (13) emits X-rays onto the object (50) pulsationally. An X-ray/light converting element (21) converts an X-ray transmission image into an optical image. A CCD camera (23) picks up this optical image. An information processing apparatus (40) reconstructs a three-dimensional image on the basis of the two-dimensional images which are obtainable in plural directions. A display monitor (46) displays this three-dimensional image. A controller (39) controls the distance between the X-ray bulb (13) and the X-ray/light converting element (21) and the focus size of the X-ray tube (13) in accordance with the size of the object (50). Consequently, a high resolution three-dimensional image can be obtained in a short time with small distortion in a wide range. Compared to conventional apparatuses, the amount of X-ray exposure can be reduced significantly.
