The actuator knob of a type suitable for use in road vehicles, for operation of windscreen wipers, air conditioning, etc., is produced as a plastic moulding. The knob has a circular form with a recess (11) having a formed projection (12). At the centre of the projection is a 'D' shaped aperture (19) formed to fit securely onto the spindle of the device to be operated. A metal plate (20) with side walls (22) is pressed into position is the plastic body. This also has a 'D' shaped aperture matching the aperture of the knob. ADVANTAGE - Metal backing plate provides improved wear resistance improving product life.
